Installation of ball valves

Ball valves are widely used in various applications due to their reliability and durability. However, proper operation and maintenance of ball valves are crucial for their efficient and safe operation. Here are some important details to consider when operating a ball valve.

1. Before operating the valve, make sure that the upstream and downstream lines are properly aligned and clean from any debris that may damage the valve. Also, check if the valve is in the correct position for the intended flow path.

2. Turn the valve handle slowly and smoothly. Do not force the handle or use excessive force, as this may damage the valve or cause injury. If the valve is difficult to operate, inspect it for any mechanical issues or debris that may be obstructing the valve.

3. Do not use the valve as an isolation valve to stop the flow abruptly. Doing so may cause water hammer or sudden pressure surge and damage the pipeline. Instead, gradually reduce the flow and then close the valve completely.

4. If the valve is not used for an extended period, periodically operate it to prevent it from seizing due to corrosion or deposits. This will also help prevent leakage when the valve is closed.

5. Be mindful of the valve's temperature and pressure ratings. Different types of ball valves have different temperature and pressure limitations, so exceeding these ratings may cause the valve to fail or rupture.

6. Regularly inspect the valve for any signs of wear, damage or leakage. Repair or replace the valve immediately if any issues are detected.

7. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for maintenance and lubrication of the valve. Using the wrong lubricant or improperly lubricating the valve may cause it to malfunction or fail.

By following these operational details, you can safely and efficiently operate your ball valve, ensuring its long-lasting and reliable performance.
